So in December, my brother Josiah and I decided we would each write one song per week. This was on the heels of NaNoWriMo, which we both managed to complete successfully, and it was before we knew about FAWM.
I thought I would go ahead and post the songs we did during that month. It was, like NaNoWriMo, a creative exercise, and a chance for us to give ourselves a deadline so that we’d actually accomplish what we had thought about a lot, which was writing songs. Here is the song each of us wrote for the first week of December.

This was my first attempt at recording anything really, and it shows. I didn’t use a metronome, and my tempo and vocals were all over the place. I even mess up a few times but I didn’t have the tenacity to do it over. I had recently gotten my stylophone, so I really wanted to use it. Other than that, its ukulele, a drum homebrew app on my Nintendo DS, and a repeater/glitch homebrew app on the DS for the ending “noise.” I’m always embarrassed about my vocals…just don’t listen to this after you’ve watched American Idol or anything…

Josiah’s first song is really awesome because it is also a crazy cool story. He told me that originally he just had the music, and thought it needed something else, so he wrote the little narrative to go along with it. I think it is fantastic. Percussive sounds are from his hands on his desk, and the rest is mostly guitar.
